Most of the world climate scientists have agreed that the main cause of global warming is human expansion of the “greenhouse effect”. The greenhouse effect is a natural process that traps heat and warms the Earth’s surface. This happens when the energy given off by the Sun reaches Earth’s atmosphere, some of the reflected back to spade and the rest is absorbed and reradiated by greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone and some artificial chemicals such as chlorofluorocarbons.
The Philippines is no safer than any other county when it comes to global warming. Though the Philippines is not one of the major countries responsible for most of the increases in the Earth’s temperature like the Americas or Asia but it still does contribute to global warming. |
One of the main reasons for this is because of the Philippines large and ever growing population which was 85 million in 2005 and is expected in be at least 110 million in 2020. All so in the philippines deforestation is a significant contributor to global warming. Forest in the philippines used to cover 90% of the land but know the forest only covers 24% of the Philippines.
Some possible effects that global warming will have on the philippines are sea level rise (increasing the amount of flood that happened), Temperature rise, rainfall and tropical cyclone activity.
